Scholarship Information
The Great Plains Vo-Tech is offering seniors the opportunity to apply for
the Next Step Scholarship. This scholarship is valued at $1250. Students
must attach a high school transcript, obtain a letter of reference from
your high school counselor, and compelte the application. This is a
one-time tuition scholarship and is good for 12 months from the date of
the award letter. Recipients are required to pay a non-refundable
processing fee of $50.00 before starting their program at the Vo-Tech.
Applicants must have graduated from a high school located within the Great
Plains school district and currently reside within the Great Plains
district, have a minimum of 2.5 GPA, have fewer than 10 absences, and
obtain a letter of recommendation. Applications may be picked up in Mrs.
Hester's office and should be returned to Great Plains Technology Center,
2001 East Gladstone Ave, Frederick, OK.
SCHOLARSHIP AVAILABLE FOR FILM OR VIDEO STUDENT The Individual Artists of
Oklahoma Art (IAO) announces the Linda Jaeger Honorarium for an Oklahoma
high school senior who plans on majoring in a film and video related field
in college. The scholarship will be a five hundred dollar award. The student
may apply the award toward either schooling (tuition, books, supplies) or
production costs for a film or video project. Last year's winner was Bao Lu
from Norman.
"Linda Jaeger was the founding chair of the IAO Film and Video Committee and
IAO Film Program. She worked to promote Oklahoma film and video artists and
to provide a venue in which to show their work. With this honorarium we hope
to keep her memory alive." said IAO Executive Director Jeff Stokes.
In addition to a completed application, the IAO requires the submission of a
300-500 word essay describing what the student hopes to accomplish
educationally and professionally through the art of film or video. Also
required is a three to 12 minute video in VHS or DVD format of the student's
work and two reference letters from individuals other than members of
family.
Application, essay, reference letters, and videos can be delivered to the
IAO gallery at 811 N. Broadway in Oklahoma City or mailed to IAO, P O Box
60824, Oklahoma City, OK 73146. The submission deadline is April 18, 2008.

The IAO Film/Video Committee will screen all applications and select a
student to receive the financial award. The winner will be announced at the
IAO Film & Video 11th Annual Open Screening on May 17, 2008.
OSU has implemented a new scholarship program called the OSU Medical
Cowboys Scholarship beginning Fall 2008. The scholarship will be a $2500
year scholarship going to incoming freshman students who are interested in
a healthcare profession (physicians, veterinarians, dentists, pharmacists,
and optometrists) after attending OSU. Must be: enrolled as full-time
student, ACT of 27 or higher, GPA from high school of 3.75, demonstrated
leadership and community involvement, have plans to pursue a healthcare
profession. The scholarship may be renewable for up to four years if the
students meets the required requirements. Students can apply for this
scholarship through the general application to OSU by indicating an
interest in pursuing a healthcare profession in the essay portion of the
application.
The Frederick Arts & Humanities scholarship is available to Tillman County
Students who will pursue advanced studies in the arts. This scholarship
is now open to past recipients or students who are currently enrolled in
the arts or humanities curriculum as their major. Applications are
available in Mrs. Hester's office and must be returned to the Arts &
Humaninties Council on or before May 15, 2008.
The Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education assist in the administration of the
Frances Koop Parsons/AT&T Pioneers Memorial Scholarship. This scholarship program was
established through the AT&T Pioneers to assist Oklahoma students in obtaining their
education goals. The recipients of this scholarship will receive a $500 cash award to
be used at an eligible Oklahoma career technology center, two-year college, or four-year
university. This scholarship is open to first-time freshmen with at least a 3.0 high
school GPA whose family income does not exceed $50,000. Attached is a copy of the 2008
application.
Each Spring, Interquest makes available two (2) scholarships in the
amount of $1000 each to the most qualified applicants with plans to study
in the fields of veterinary medicine or animal behavior. Applicants
should be graduating seniors and have a minimum grade point average of
3.4. If you would like to apply for this scholarship please see Mrs.
Hester for an application. Deadline for applications is May 2, 2008.
The Tillman County Farm Bureau will sponsor one $250 scholarship for a
graduating FFA sernior from Frederick High School. Deadline to return
this application is April 7, 2008 and applications may be picked up in
Mrs. Hester's office. Please remember that the actual award will not be
made if the recipient does not enroll and attend college or vo-tech next
fall.
Express Personnel is offering two deserving FHS seniors $250 scholarships this May
at the senior awards assembly. To apply for this scholarship the senior must have a
minimum of a 2.5 GPA, plan to attend some form of education following high school, and
is a 2008 graduate of Frederick High School. Students will be required to write a short
essay and complete an application that can be obtained in Mrs. Hester's office. Deadline
to apply is April 1, 2008.
Jason C. Wagner Foundation Scholarship
This scholarship is in the amount of $2500 and will be awarded to one
individual under the age of 20 that will be attending an Oklahoma college
in the fall and graduating in 2007-2008. The Foundation will award the
scholarship to a student who has financial need and who exemplifies
Jason's characteristics: integrity, intelligence, and kindness. Jason was
an attorney that died on December 15, 2005 at the age of 40. The
Foundation scholarship has been established to honor Jason and carry on
his legacy.
Deadline is June 1, 2007 and applications can be obtain from Mrs. Hester.
Eta Gamma is offering a new scholarship in the amount of $250 to a deserving FHS senior.
Attached is the
application to be completed and turned into Mrs. Hester by the last day
of March.
Eligible applicants may apply for the 2008 Ag Preference Scholarship.
Students must be children/grandchildren of Ag Preference customers,
2008 high school graduates, and students graduating rom Cotton, Greer,
Harmon, Jackson, Kiowa or Tillman County. Students may obtain a copy of
the application in my office or download it at www.agpreference.com.
Deadline for applications to be submitted is March 31, 2008. Mrs. Hester
Cameron University is pleased to announce that Cameron Gold is back for
another year! Offered in conjunction with the OHLAP, Cameron Gold will
supplement OHLAP, federal and state financial aid, and other scholarships.
It will ensure that all OHLAP students entering Cameron University as
freshmen during the Fall 2008 semester will receive an additional funding
necessary to pay for tuition, mandatory fees, and required books for up to
five years or a maximum of the 128 hours necessary to graduate with a
bachelor's degree. Depending on student circumstances, the scholarship
could be worth more than $25,000. Seniors enrolled in OHLAP must apply
for Cameron Gold by April 1, 2008 by contacting the Office of Admissions
at 1-888-454-7600 or visit the Cameron Gold website at
Cameron Gold.
All UCO freshmen are required to meet with an Academic Advisor before
enrolling in classes for the first time. Enrollment Central session will
be held Monday through Thursday from May 13-July 31. Admitted students
will receive a brochure in mid-March with information and instructions
regarding registration.
Brandon Whitten Memorial Scholarship was started by the Whitten-Newman
Foundation to honor Brandon Whitten, son of co-founder Reggie Whitten,
whose life was tragically cut short. The BW
Scholarship for the "Underdog" is designed to reward an overachieving,
financially challenged student and/or athlete by providing them with the
opportunity to attend an Oklahoma college or university of their
choosing. The BWM scholarship, which provides for four years of tuition,
education materials and certain living expenses as defined by the
individual school, is awarded based on performance, potential and
financial need. Deadline to apply is April 1, 2008. Applications are
available in Mrs. Hester's office.
Applications for the
Southwest Oklahoma Federal Credit Union are in Mrs. Hester's
office for any student interested.
Ten $1000 scholarships are being offered by the SWOFCU. Applicants must
be a member or a child of a member of the
Southwest Oklahoma Federal Credit Union, a high school senior maintaining
a 3.0 GPA and have an ACT of 20, or a renewing college/university student
maintaining a 3.0, and must be enrolled as a full time student (12 hours)
per semester. Students will receive $500 per semester for one year.
Oklahoma Rural Rehabilitation Corporation (ORRC) is offering scholarships
to graduating seniors who are children of low-income families.
Applications are due back to ORRC by April 15, 2008. This scholarship is
for graduating seniors for their first year of education only.
Scholarships are available to residents of Oklahoma only and students must
be planning to attend school/training in Oklahoma. Applications are
available from Mrs. Hester.
Oklahoma Heritage Association is sponsoring the 2008 John W. and Mary D.
Nicols Scholarship. This $10,000 scholarship, funded by Mr. and Mrs. John
W. Nichols of Oklahoma City, is awarded each year to a graduating senior.
Students may be nominated for this scholarship by teachers or
administrators not related to the student. This scholarship is based on
the student's demonstrated knowledge and appreciation of Oklahoma history
and geography, as well as academic achievement, citizenship & leadership.

please submit this by that date!
Oklahoma Heritage Association offers more than $400,000 in scholarships
Each year, the Oklahoma Heritage Association offers more than $400,000 in
scholarships to Oklahoma high schoolers.
Ninth through 12th graders take a test on Oklahoma history and its people to compete
for scholarship dollars. The high scorers in each county receive a $1,000 cash
scholarship or tuition grant. Each county has at least three scholarships
available, and some have up to 15.
The 2008 test will be give on Saturday, April 5 at 15 locations across the state.

Oklahoma Heritage Association is sponsoring their annual scholarship
competition on Saturday, April 5, 2008. The examination is open to all
students in grades 9-12. The exam is based on Oklahoma History. A study
guide for the examination is available at
Oklahoma Heritage Association under
the scholarship tab. Students must submit a registration slip prior to
Friday, March 21. The can be obtained in Mrs. Hester's office. Frederick High School
students may register to test at Altus-Southwest Technology Center or
Lawton-Cameron University. Tillman County students have the opportunity to
compete for: $1000 tuition grant-Oklahoma City University, $1000 tuition
Oklahoma Christian University grant, $1000 tuition grant at Western
Oklahoma State College or $1000 "Southwestern Oklahoma State University.
J. Clarence Karcher Scholarship applications are available in Mrs. Hester's office.
Students must be planning to major in the study of physics, astronomy, and engineering.
Selection is based on academic achievement and test scores. This is a $1400 scholarship
that is renewable up to 4 years. Deadline is March 15.
Altus Air Force Officer Spouses Club is announging its 2008 Metis
Scholarship Program for military dependent high school students.
Applications must be postmarked by March 17, 2008. Student must have: 3.0
GPA, live within 50 miles of Altus, be a 2008 graduate, possess a valid US
Uniformed Services Identification and Privilege Card. Contact Mrs. Hester if
you are interested.
OSU Journalism dept. is offering several scholarships to seniors planning
to major in news-editorial at OSU beginning in the Fall 2008. If any senior is
planning to major in this area, please see Mrs. Hester for more information.
RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership)applications need to be back in Mrs. Hester's office by
Wed. Feb. 13 for judging. If there are students that still want to apply they can pick up an application in Mrs. Hester's
office.
Seniors that were given the Oklahoma Community Foundation Scholarhsip
applications need to have those back in to Mrs. Hester by Feb. 13. No late
applications will be accepted.

Cameron Gold Scholarship: Any senior that has qualified for OHLAP and is
planning to attend Cameron University needs to make sure they submit a
Cameron Gold Application. This will pay for books and fees not covered by
OHLAP. Brochures are available in Mrs. Hester's office. If they do not apply for
the Cameron Gold they will not receive it. This is additional funding for
5 years if they continue to meet the qualifications.
The Kerr Center for Sustainable Agriculture is sponsoring an essay
contest. This is open to high school juniors and seniors. They are
required to write a 800-1000 word essay on the Value of Locally Grown
Foods" Grand Prize is $750, First runner up-$500 and One honorable
mention $250. Deadline is March 28, 2008. Winners will be announced on
May 7, 2008. For more information go to Kerr Center
Oklahoma State University is sponsoring Greek Discovery Day 2008 for all
Juniors and Seniors interested in learning more about fraternities and
sororities at Oklahoma State. Interested students can go to

may attend for an additional $10.
Oklahoma State: Students planning to attend OSU next fall may be
interested in attending Camp Cowboy. This is a weekend event staffed by
OSU students that can offer support to settle fears and ease anxieties by
letting future Cowboys know what to expect. Students will meet new
friends, learn OSU traditions, and interact with faculty members. For

Oklahoma Burglar & Fire alarm Association - must be son or daughter of fireman
or police officer. Deadline to apply is March 15th.
Kohl's Kids Who Care Scholarship - recognizes and rewards young volunteers who help
make their communities a better place. Yu must be nominated by someone for this award
at www.kohlkidswhocare.com.
Lawton Community Foundation Scholarship: applications distributed to
all that qualified to apply. Must be returned to mrs. hester no later than
Wed. Feb. 13th to be considered for the $1,000 scholarship.
Oklahoma City University - Clara Luper Scholarship - Deadline
to apply is February 25th. This scholarship is almost a full ride to OCU!

Cameron Gold Scholarship Application: for OHLAP students. this scholarship will cover all
expenses bot covered for books and fees.
OSU Balanced Man Scholarship: Deadline is March 14th.
Toyota Motos Sales, USA is pleased to present the 12th annual Toyota
Community Scholars program for high school seniors. This year the program
will award 100 renewable scholarships, valued at $10,000 or $20,000
payable over four years, to seniors who enroll at a four-year college or
university in the United States starting in the fall of 2008. The
scholarship winners will be announced in April 2008.
One senior from FHS can participate. All students wanting to be
considered as the FHS applicant need to submit their name to Mrs. Hester
by Friday, Dec. 14, 2007. The senior with the highest GPA/ACT will be
selected to apply. While academic performance is the prime factor in the
selection process, please note that the distinguishing characteristic will
be the overall impact of the student's contribution(s) in the area of
community service.
If you are a senior interested in applying and meet the qualifications
please see Mrs. Hester by Friday, Dec. 14. The application deadline is
January 4, 2008. This is before we return from Christmas break so you
will need to obtain all required school materials prior to leaving for
Christmas Break.
WalMart Scholarship: www.walmartfoundation.org. The deadline for entry is
a postmark of January 14, 2008 for the online submission and mailing of
all required documents. No exceptions! This is a non-renewable $1000
award for the first year of undergraduate study at an approved accredited
college or university. You must be a graduating senior and may not be a
child or legal dependent of anyone associated with WalMart or Sams to
apply.
Oklahoma Council of Public Affairs, Inc: 9th Annual Citizenship Essay
Contest is offering $12000 in tuition scholarships to five Oklahoma
college bound students. You can go to ocpathink.org or see Mrs. Hester for more
information on applying for this scholarship. Deadline is Feb. 28
Planning to attend the University of Oklahoma? Are you a high school
student interested in medicine? Apply to be a University of Oklahoma
Medical humanities scholar. If this fits you....see Mrs. Hester for the
information.
Please be reminded that Seniors need to be getting your college applications
in the mail! Also, it is very important that you get your housing
applications in the mail also!
Seniors interested in applying for the Coca-Cola Scholarship need to go to
www.coca-colascholars.org to apply by October 31, 2007. In December 2000
semifinalists will be selected to complete additional materials. In March
250 finalists will be notified and invited to Atlanta for interviews in
April in which students will be awarded $20,000 or $10,000 scholarships!
We have had approximately 4-5 students selected for these scholarships in
the past so don't miss the deadline!
