Kindergarten and 1st grade

This year we are going to focus on enhancing Math and Reading in the Talented and Gifted classes by reading and working on math concepts each week.  Since this is Oklahoma’s Centennial the majority of our reading material will be Oklahoma history.  The math material will be from books, hands on exercises, and a monthly magazine (Dyna Math).

We will have two field trips.  One will be to the Red River Valley Museum in Vernon, TX (please print and sign the permission slip).  The second field trip will be going to the Crawford Collection and Pioneer Park in Frederick, in May.

Each week students will arrive in class at 9:15 and be returned to their classes at 10:30.

Class will begin with a history story (beginning with Oklahoma since this is the centennial), then students will work on the “Type to Learn” program learning keyboarding skills, after this, students will learn math concepts and class will end with students playing online educational games.  During the 2nd semester of classes I plan on involving student in the BNN program with and educational segment and students will begin writing a book.
