Begin learning about Censorship and Copyright laws pertaining to publications and public schools by reading and answering the questions in the Jostens Taking Issue - A Student Guide to Publication Law. Answer the questions at the end of each chapter and save them as your (student’s) name on the Yearbook Server. A good site to investigate the CopyRight Law is the Student Press Law Center. Another resource for information is Copyright Kids. Copyright Basics is another good information site.

SENIOR SPORTS COLLAGE assignment - students will create a Senior Sports Collage in PhotoShop for a senior player using the action photos taken at the sporting events. These collage are 11 inches by 17 inches at 300 Resolution - CMYK. Students must save these collages in the Senior Sports Collage folder on the yearbook server at the student's name and sport.
Begin planning the yearbook go to www.yearbookavenue.com login (your login is your first initial and your last name - no spaces or caps - the job number is 17388 - the year 2011. Study the help tutorials and learn the program. There have been many changes since last year.
Next begin planning the ladder (the order you think the pages should be in the yearbook). A signature is 16 consecutive pages; Example 1-16 is one signature; 17-32 is a signature; but 10-26 is NOT a signature.
Begin thinking about a theme for the book. Decide on the fonts you want to use in the book.
Plan the cover (anyone may begin designing a cover and we can vote if there are more than one).
ELEMENTARY PAGES:On the Elementary Class pages you go to PhotoShop - Select Open - then open the FES Yearbook Template. Then you go to the Individual picture folder- go to the grade you are assigned and then the teachers folder - open the student pictures. The list with the student names and pictures are on my desk. Select the cropping tool set it to 2.5 inches by 2.5 inches 300 resolution (select from the middle of the chest to just over the head - select all the picture - then select the move tool from the photoshop tool bar and move the picture onto the FES Yearbook Template - type the name of the student under their picture - repeat this until all pictures and names are used. Save the file in the Teachers folder as FES (grade - teachers name) 10-11.psd
For the Elementary collage pages you build the page just like the Senior Sports Collage except the size of the page is 8 inches by 10.5 inches at 300 resolution. Select the pictures for the corresponding folder arrange them in a graphically appeasing style (do NOT Distort any of the pictures - ALWAYS use the shift and grab a corner when reducing the picture in the collage). Save the finished collage in the corresponding folder.
BOMBER YEARBOOK PAGES: Students will be assigned pages online - yearbookavenue.com. To see their individual assignments only students must select their name in selection box on the left side of the screen and click apply.
Students will receive a zero if their pages are not completed on the assigned dates.
If for some reason there are pictures and information (such as ADS to fill the page) that are not available at the time of the due date, pages should be completed to the best of the student’s ability (the ten pictures should be placed on the side of the page) and turned in to be checked on the date the page is due.
Students’ are responsible for having all needed pictures for their pages. Example: if a student is missing on the class page the student assigned this page is responsible for taking a digital picture and placing on the page; or if a picture is needed for an AD students are responsible for getting that picture themselves or to make arrangements with another student in the class to get the picture and I will count this as an Extra help grade for the student helping. If for some reason a student is never at school then allowances will be made BUT the student must make every effort to get the picture themselves.
DO NOT EXPECT THE TEACHER TO GET ALL PICTURES. THIS IS THE STUDENT’S RESPONSIBILITY. Anyone with a driver’s license is responsible for taking needed Ad pictures (helping younger students get the Ad pictures they need for their pages will count as extra work.)
Students will receive 2 grades for each page assigned (one for correctness/creativity of the page and one for timeliness (pages with NO errors turned in at least one week early will receive + points)
Each page must be meet the requirements as documented in the Rubric - grades will be given according to standards set on the Rubric.
Design a cover or a page for the first page of the book, design a schedule for the Quaterback Club, or design a picture for the Quaterback Club Member plaque.
LEARNING PAGEMAKER: Students will review the tutorial about using PageMaker. View each of the Tutorials about Adobe PageMaker. Have questions ready for me to answer.
GOALS EACH STUDENT SHOULD REACH BY THE END OF THE SCHOOL YEAR:
