This year we are going to focus on enhancing Math and Reading in the Talented and Gifted classes by reading and working on math concepts each week.  Since this is Oklahoma’s Centennial the majority of our reading material will be Oklahoma history.  We will work online math and reading games that entertain and enhance learning.

Activities that any and all students may compete in, students must read the instructions and follow the rules then turn the project into Mrs. Cassidy:

Heritage Week Poster Competition – 4th – 6th – Deadline Friday, October 12th at 5:00 p.m. (if Mrs. Cassidy needs to take to the City she will need the poster no later than October 5th.

Students’ are going to have an active participation in the making of BNN each week.  So, students will be expected to bring stories hopefully, e-mail me when they need a camera or pictures taken, otherwise, they will be expected to check the calendar a week to 2 weeks ahead so that they can tell me when an Artist in Residence will be present or when classes are studying something unique that would be fun to share with the community.

Each week student’s will watch a video about a “Hero” be sure (parents be sure to ask them each week who they learned about).  After watching the video students will complete worksheets that will reinforce their listening skills as well as their reading skills.

The yearbook project will be the responsibility of the Elementary Talented and Gifted students.

Also, each week students will spend 20 to 30 minutes working on Dyna Math.

Students can watch Oklahoma Centennial Stories
