Frederick Lady Bombers softball Honors! Excellence!
Senior Lady Bomber outfielder was selected to the 2010 Slowpitch All-State Team. one of 18 players selected by the Oklahoma Slowpitch Softball Coaches Association to represent the West in the All-State game that will be played on June 19th at the University of Oklahoma softball complex. Senior outfielder was selected First-Team All-Region as she scored 25 runs for the Lady Bombers while leading the team in hitting (58), doubles (16), triples (5), homeruns (4), RBI (45), and batting average (.716). Senior outfielder was a First-Team All-Region selection. For the season, she scored a team-leading 35 runs while batting .548 with 46 hits, including 7 doubles, 5 triples, 1 homerun, and 18 RBI. Senior catcher earned Second-Team All-Region honors after hitting .351 with 27 hits, including 2 homeruns, and 19 RBI. Senior pitcher rounds out the honors with a Second-Team All-Region selection. At the plate , batted .468 with 44 hits, including 3 doubles, a triple, and 2 homeruns, to go along with 18 runs and 33 RBI. As a pitcher, a 3.79 ERA while also setting a school record for wins in a season with 17.

The Frederick High School Slow-Pitch Softball team won the District Tournament, Thursday, April 22, at Apache. Lady Bombers beat Hobart in the first round of play 16 to 1, then Apache 14 to 4. For the Championship game the Lady Bombers played Apache again and won 7 to 6.

The Frederick Middle School 6th and 7th grade track teams competed In the Waurika Track meet last Friday and several members placed. The 6th grade girls 4th in the 400 M Relay; 4th in the 3200 M Relay; 4th in the High Jump 1st in the 100 M Dash and 5th in the 100 M Dash; and, 5th in the 800 M Relay. The 6th grade boys placed 4th in the 400 M Relay; 4th in the 200 M Dash; 6th in the 1600 M Relay; 2nd in the 400 M Dash; and, 5th in the Shot Put. Frederick High and Middle Schools learn to make Pottery! - Innovation!
Frederick High School and Middle School Art classes have Bob Hanlin Artist in Residence this week. Mr. Hanlin is a graduate of Oklahoma City University, and has studied ceramic art at the University of Central Oklahoma. He has had his artwork accepted in numerous statewide and regional competitions and have exhibited in many local and regional fairs and festivals. Hanlin has participated in many workshops with national known ceramic artists. During the classes students will learn ways to work creatively with clay (hand built or potters wheel), various ways to decorate clay projects. Students will learn about kilns and the firing process, and increase their knowledge of ways to use clay tools and methods to create a work uniquely theirs.

Grandparents read Dr. Seuss books to classes. One class received Cat in the Hat hats from the volunteer readers. The Dr. Seuss characters gave all the Elementary students stickers, high-fives, and hugs. Parents and volunteers came to read a Dr. Seuss book to all the Elementary classes. Students at Frederick Elementary enjoyed a movie about Dr. Seuss in the library and then they were able to read one of his books. Frederick Middle School students dressed as Dr. Seuss characters for the Elementary students.

Mrs. Bower's 2nd grade class entered a poster contest with Ag in the Classroom and won 1st place. Students were given certificates and treated to a pizza party sposored by Ag in the Classroom.

Frederick High School use Study Island to help prepare for the EOI tests! - Innovation!
The Frederick High School has purchased the Study Island online program for students use to enhance their learning experience and tutor problem areas of knowledge. The Study Island programs are built specifically from state standards and are designed to create a very user-friendly experience for both students and teachers alike. The purchase of this supplemental program is to help students practice for the State tests that they must pass in order to graduate from high school. Students are able to use this program at home and/or school, and teachers are able to monitor student progress in each of the four core curriculum areas. A recent survey taken at Frederick High School revealed that 80% of the Frederick High School students have internet access at home, so this program can be very beneficial to a large majority of students attending the Frederick High School.
