FMS 7th Grade Science Learn about Muscles.
Frederick Middle School 7th Grade Science classes learned about bones, joints, muscles and tendons using chicken wings.  Students first manipulated the wing by stretching and shortening the muscles and observed the reaction of wing. Later, students dissected the wing and examined how the muscles are attached to the bones and joints.  The 7th Grade Science classes are taught by Mrs. Wendy Howard.

Grey Eagle - Artist in Residence at FMS
Coach Matt Humble's 7th grade Geography classes are hosting an Artist in Residence this week, Albert Grey Eagle. Mr. Grey Eagle is a noted flute artist and performer who is skilled in the craft of making traditional flutes along with regional forms of creative writing. Students are making flutes and learning songs as well as, learning cultural and historical facts about the Native American Indian culture.

FHS Music Department Storms St. Louis! Congratulations!!!
The FHS Varsity Choir and Bomber Band traveled to St. Louis, MO, to participate in the Heritage Music Festival 2008.  The Festival included music groups from West Virginia, Tennessee, Ohio, Oklahoma, Canada, and other areas.  While in St. Louis, the Frederick students visited the Gateway Arch, Union Station, the St. Louis Zoo and Science Center.
On Friday evening both groups competed in the music festival at Fort Zumwalt West High School in O'Fallon, MO.  The Varsity Choir performed three selections in competition:

In addition to the competitive awards, the Heritage Music Festival presents <i>The Spirit of St. Louis Award</i>.  This is a special recognition awarded to the ONE school which <i>best represents its community and state</i> in all aspects of the 2008 Heritage Music Festival.  The FHS Music Department is proud to present to the Frederick community and the
Frederick Public Schools <i>The Spirit of St. Louis</i> plaque, awarded to them at a special award ceremony at Six Flags Over Missouri.  It's only because of your continued support that we are able to participate in music education classes and events around the community, state and nation.  We are honored to be able to present to you an award signifying our ability to represent you in the best possible way.</i>
