Special Meeting

Frederick Administration Building

1:15 p.m.          March 4, 2009

 

Bob Reid called the meeting to order.  Board members present were Robert Reid, Vinson Orr,  Brad Benson, Felisha Crawford and James Heap.  There were 7 members of the NCA visiting accreditation team and 7 members of the district NCA steering committee present.

 

The board heard and received the oral exit report from the North Central visiting team.  The report commended the district on several items such as having strong leadership, a strong data system and tremendous community support and interaction.  The report also recommended that improvement be made in the professional development system and how it is tied to the evaluation system.  They also recommended improvement be made on the usage of the data system that is in place by teaching staff.

 

The visiting team then told the board that they were recommending to the Board of Trustees of Advanc-Ed and North-Central that Frederick Public Schools be accredited at the district level for a five year term which is the longest that is offered to any school district.

 

The board president then thanked the team for the thoroughness and their professionalism.  He also thanked the NCA steering committee for their work in preparing for and carrying out successfully the NCA Visit.

 

The board then voted to accept the report as presented and then the meeting was adjourned.
