Bob Reid called the meeting to order. Board members present were Robert Reid,
Vinson Orr, Brad Benson, James Heap, and Felisha Crawford. Staff members present were Superintendent
Tony O’Brien, Randy Cottrell, Business Manager; Pat Kent, school attorney.
The Board approved the resolution to accept the
Federal Readiness and Emergency Management for Schools Grant. They also approved using the NIMS protocol
for setting up the district’s emergency management planning. The board also approved REMS grant stipends
to be paid to employees who completed the NIMS training.
The Board then discussed the Memorandum of
Understanding for the Race to the Top federal grant program as presented by
Superintendent O’Brien. The board
tentatively approved the MOU with the ability to review the final document once
the State Department of Education has completed it.
The Board also accepted a quote on signage for the
Frederick High School Gym and then tabled the issued until the matching funds
could be raised.
Then Board then convened into executive session
concerning employee retirement resolutions.
When they returned to open session they approved pursuing the retirement
incentives for a final approval of the resolution to be done in the January
regular meeting.
